The Level Sports App is a fitness app where you can find workouts, follow athletes, trainers and celebrity workout routines. If you don't see a workout you like, you can create your own, pull in your YouTube/Instagram videos and pictures and share it with your friends.
The Level Sports App started as an idea by two brothers in Charlotte, NC and I was tasked with the goal of bringing their dream to life. I was responsible for the product design and front-end development. With limited resources available, the guys at Level made a decision to develop a single Angular application that could work for both Android and IOS. My goal was to design an awesome application that would work for both operating systems, allowing users to create & browse workouts, train like the pros and track their performance.
THE APPROACH
The guys at Level came to me with extensive research of their own and we used that to start creating personas and user journeys. We then had a solid understanding of who our target audience was and the problems the application solved for them, which allowed me to create the information architecture and user flows for the most common scenarios that each persona would potentially encounter. At that point, I was able to start wireframing and prototyping.
Most wireframes started with quick sketches and were then moved to high fidelity wireframes that could be used to prototype for usability testing.
Level was successfully launched in January of 2015. Here is a glimpse at the Challenges page, a view of a single workout, and what it looks like when you are in the process of doing a workout.
