American City Business Journals (ACBJ) is the largest publisher of metropolitan business newsweeklies in the United States, with 43 business publications across the country reaching more than 3.6 million readers each week. ACBJ also offers specialty publications for sports fans, sports business readers, and classic car enthusiasts.
I was a full time employee at ACBJ and had the pleasure of working with an incredibly talented team of 7. Our typical process consisted of gathering requirements, wireframing, and HTML prototyping, followed by usability testing with rapid iterations between groups of 5 participants. ACBJ has a wide variety of offerings, so our team was able to work on an array of different products.
THE Website
The Business Journal’s 40 business newspapers stretch from Washington, D.C. to San Francisco, and from Austin, Texas to Albany, N.Y. They report on local and national issues that impact subscribers’ businesses and assist them in growing their companies.
I had the opportunity to design and enhance many different features on the Bizjournals’ website. Most notably, I was involved in the beginning stages of designing Bizjournals’ new look and layout. I was also responsible for designing, maintaining and developing the html for all Bizjournals’ subscriber emails.
Bizjournals has a custom CRM for internal use and our team was tasked with designing the experience for any new features needed. One project in particular was to create a new workflow for our staff in order to efficiently plan, create, and track the “Morning Edition” emails sent to all subscribers every morning.
THE Website
Bizwomen is a website dedicated to producing business news, events, community and conversations for business women from The Business Journals. I was able to work on new features whenever they were needed. One of the larger projects I worked on for Bizwomen was to create the experience for a new Mentoring Channel, in which women looking for mentorship could read about and contact local successful women in business.
I had the delight to completely redesign the ACBJ marketing website. The new website was created after extensive research and the creation of a highly detailed Creative brief, wireframes, and a html prototype.
